Roses --- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rose

Since this is 2012 Valentines Day, I will feature flowers.
First the Erika's Roses and Then Bob's Impatiens for the Sun July-August

These are some of Erika's prized roses by our south side entry door where the flooring meets the railing

You can see more of Erika's domestic roses at
http://www.trinity.edu/rjensen/tidbits/Roses/Domestic/Set01/DomesticRosesSet01.htm

This shows a rose rising above impatiens blooms

This is how it looked in early June before the plants reached their full height and fullness
We had an unusual number of humming birds in the Summer of 2011

We also have a clematis vines that grow taller every year

My favorite outdoor annual is what Agway calls "impatiens for the Sun."
I think they're also called New Guinea Impatiens
They grow very well in these mountains as long as you give them lots of water

This is how they looked in late July

This one shows Erika's climbing roses rising above Bob's impatiens

A rose among the impatiens

By August the Impatiens have grown higher up

In August our butterfly bush is in full bloom

Meanwhile in the rock garden on the north side of our cottage, the impatiens and Lilies are growing together

But the perennial lilies only last a couple weeks while the impatiens live on into October

In the next editions of Tidbits I will show the impatiens season for September-October
In October they die and are then buried in a land fill

I close this Valentines Data photo set with some of my favorite pictures taken from my desk facing the White Mountains
May you find lots of love on this Valentines Day
