Set 02 of My
Sunrise and Sunset
Favorites from the White Mountains of New Hampshire
Bob Jensen at
Trinity University
I think it was
a very elderly poet named Carl Sandburg who said if he had it to do all over
again he would eat more ice cream and watch more sunsets.
Most of the pictures
below were taken from my desk or
our cottage yard
I'm strictly an amateur photographer
If a bright light appears in a picture it's usually the reflection of my flash
on the window glass
Sometimes the lens is zoomed making objects appear closer
On May 14,
2006 I retired from
Trinity University after a long and
wonderful career as an accounting professor in four universities. I was
generously granted "Emeritus" status by the Trustees of Trinity University. My
wife and I now live in a cottage in the White Mountains of New Hampshire ---

Our
address is 190 Sunset Hill Road, Sugar Hill, New Hampshire
Our cottage was known as the Brayton Cottage in the early 1900s
Sunset Hill is a ridge overlooking with
New Hampshire's White Mountains to the East
and Vermont's
Green Mountains to the West
My desk faces eastward toward the
White Mountains

I watch nearly every sunrise while working on my computer
The flash reflection in the window points to the north side of Franconia Notch

A shot of a harvest moon after sunset
My desk at sunrise in very early winter
A few weeks later later after the sun moved further south
Witch shadows in the sky at sunrise
The flash reflection in the picture below points to the north end of Franconia
Notch

The Three Graces south of Cannon Mountain are also called the "Cannon Balls"
Several of the 60 Cannon Mountain ski trails is visible in the sunrise
photograph below
Sunrises are less spectacular without clouds
The pointed peak is Mt. Garfield
Can you make out the "Baby's Cradle" between Mt. LaFayette and Mt. Garfield
Sunsets in the early winter are nearly (but not quite) straight south around 4:00 pm
Sometimes sunsets behind our birch grove look like wild fires
Often the mountains to the east are the most spectacular at sunset
This is a unique cloud east of my desk at sunset
This is our view of Mt. Washington at sunset
