Theatrical Scene Painting Drama 3315 Gilliam
SCENE PAINTERÕS NOTEBOOK
Over the course of this semester, you will gather materials and document your work in order to create a personal scene painting notebook. This will be your painting portfolio. In the future if a theatre needs a scenic, this portfolio will be the necessary document to showcase your talents. In addition, and most important, this notebook will be your scenic reference book. Take good notes, document your procedures and formulae, photograph everything and create the foundation for a reference book that you can update and expand throughout your painting career.
How you organize your notebook is up to you. However, I will expect a presentation appropriate of an artist. I encourage you to consider this resource as a Òworks in progressÓ collection. Add to it as you discover new ideas, pictures and the sort.
Your notebook should include, but not be limited to:
1. All handouts.
2. Photographs of all projects.
3. Notes and comments regarding your techniques.
4. Paint mixing recipes.
5. Painter elevations.
6. Picture morgues. (Base coats, Stone, Marble, Wood Grain, Foliage, Curtains, Wallpaper, etc.)
7. A color wheel, value scale and other color related references.
8. Production Photos that show your work in detail and under lights.
9. Anything you find interesting and think you might duplicate in paint should be included.
