Flat Conversion: The wainscoting portion including the baseboard and the chair rail should be 2’-6” up from the bottom of the flat. This will make the green wall taller than in the textbook.

Your first step is to analysis the paint elevation. The text provides you with a step-by-step procedure. Do paint samples to match your colors. I suggest you paint your sample board with the green on one side and the beige on the other.

Experiment with spattering and practice painting with a straight edge before you execute the same for your Project.. Use a bamboo stick and your ¾” brush for lining.

Your text emphasizes the importance of this technique. You must learn how to paint standing up, with a bamboo pole and using a straightedge. You have one “liner” that I will demonstrate. You can use any board as a straightedge provided it has a beveled side.
