Studio Art Materials

A studio theatre art class, Drama 3315 requires a number of art supplies for the preparation of painter elevations and projects.  You may already own some of these supplies.  The following lare suggested art supplies, which you may find useful.

Scene Painting Supplies

Scene Artist Supply Box - You should have a shoebox or some other appropriate container to store and protect your painting supplies. If you think you might continue in the field, you will need a toolbox to carry your brushes.

Basic Scenic Brushes Kit (Sculptural Art Coating, Inc.) http://www.sculpturalarts.com/

White Bristle Scenic Fitches: Basic Set -(4) Brushes - 1/4" - 1" $25.81

Misc. Brushes & Paint Tools - These supplies may be purchased at a Home Depot, hardware or paint store.  The prices are rough estimates.

 PARTNER (2) SUPPLIES

Although not necessary, it is possible to partner with someone else in our class to share the following paint supplies.  If you can afford it, go ahead and order your own sets.  If you would like to share the supplies, let me know and I will circulate the names of emails of other members in the class.  You (and a possible partner) will  purchase a total of 12 pints of paint.  This may not seem like much.  This specific paint is concentrated and is diluted with water for application.  Your paint consumption will vary.  We will discuss how to mix paint in class.

There are a number of theatrical supply companies that manufacture theatrical scene paint.  To my knowledge, Sculptural Arts Coatings, Inc., from North Carolina is the only company to sell scene painting kits suitable of our class.  Please go online as soon as possible to purchase your paint.  Shipping depends on the weather since scene paint cannot freeze.
