Model Moves

TOP OF THE SHOW
Park view in St. Louis. Skateboards, bikes, people in an urban park. Inner thoughts projected onto the LED. (Economic crisis, war, foreclosure, etc.) ·      Various types of “wheels” will flow through opening; we will have ensemble members with special needs·      Action moves into chaos, blinding light on LED screen and on stage, Narrator appears on the bridge during vamp, the revolve moves, pageant of color for the first time unfolds onstage, bits of the whole story revealed.

·      Joseph will enter from the CL trap.  Actors will open the trap door.  IA will “lift” a mechanic elevator that will bring Joseph UP.·      Various types of “wheels” will flow through opening; we will have ensemble members with special needs·      Action moves into chaos, blinding light on LED screen and on stage, Narrator appears on the bridge during vamp, the revolve moves, pageant of color for the first time unfolds onstage, bits of the whole story revealed.

*** Rethink as there is not enough room to clear the cherry picker and low rider ***

·      2nd turn of the revolve, bridge is in flush position, Narrator DSC·      Jacob & Sons with Schnuck’s logo and set accessories with biblical wink·      Joseph’s Coat of Many Colors and the cherry picker moment with flowing fabric panels for the maypole effect; magnetic logo on the cherry pickero   Shopping carts—4-6o   Dollyo   Bicycle with side cart or back cart·      Brothers get off work—roller blades, scooters·      Huge round piece of cloth to represent Coat—size of cloth to be determined·      Ishmaelites enter in low rider·      Joseph in chains attached to the back bumper

·      One More Angel—ho-down number

·      Potiphar—wife at a “spa” with a large umbrella, faux hot tub with Egyptian tile décor, or an Egyptian poolside lounger SL with Potiphar's money counting table SR·      Dance break takes her in the bedroom (cut the Murphy bed idea)·      Wife and Joseph on top of the bridge, huge sheet of fabric (maybe a monogram on the fabric) will unfurl to represent the bed, all actor motivated·      Bed fabric then gets sucked away through and under the bridge

·      Joseph taken to Jail DSC…”Close Every Door”·      Stair units go away, center bridge at slight angle·      Butler and Baker “hidden” behind hinged flippers of either side of the bridge to represent jail bars·      ·      Multiple manholes will be used for the Jailhouse Rock nod in     5 trap doors, actor manipulated, precise constructionGo Go Joseph brings back children·      ACT I ends with Narrator, “…to become a star…”

“Go, Go Joseph,” near the end of ACT I·

·      Pharaoh’s procession…enters at the top of a stair unit, brought on by six muscle bound hunks, stair unit will move into place on either side of the bridge during a revolve turn

·      Pharaoh descends from the top of the stairs·      Very glamorous sedan chair for his throne·      Joseph will be brought to the Pharaoh·      Cows and corn will parade through—costumes and/or puppets·      Pharaoh will be in gold lame with a King Tut feel—very Egyptian look

·      Big change back to Canaan Days and Ted Drewes…Eleven rolling, light-weight window units will come on, actor motivated, with sliding shades and brakes to represent the Ted Drewes logo and windows

·      Recreating the Egyptian Road Trip---location questions emerged…all to be played in and around St. Louis?·      A “smart car” will represent the Chariot of Gold…needs to be able to drive through the bridge tunnel; smart cars may come in different colors like the swatch watches…or we will make a magnetic gold lightning bolt appliqué

·      For the big Gospel number the revolve will move the stairs and bridge units to the upstage position on the turntable, and set flat on to the audience·      We want banners, flags, lots of color, bright lights all over the set and ramps and LED will have rock & roll concert light effects
