BOOM #1 Generic Drop w/ double door openings for wagon backings SR only.
BOOM #2 WILL NOT USE.

BOOM #3 Skytrucks are on BLACK SIDE with translucent DRAGON.USC is a 6'-0" wide by 8'-0" high draw curtain entrance. Boom #3 opens by moving offstage using fork lifts, if necessary. Units should be tracked and should not open more than 12'-0" both ways to form a 24'-0" maximum opening. Boom #3 splits to expose the ramp to the back lot for the Boat People Exodus, end of Act I, and for the Helicopter Dream Act II.

Act I

BOOM #1 as Audience Enters Theatre

On cue, Boom opens to

BARE STAGE. Saigon street with Commerce.
1:07-1:27 Musical introduction for Kim's entrance. Spots pick up Engineer and Kim. Other girls gather. On cue, Boom closes to

BOOM #1 with BACKSTAGE DREAMLAND (SR)

1:27-3:05 Engineer is backstage in Girl's Dressing Room. On cue, Boom opens to

DREAMLAND p 4-10 Nightclub (Bar, Cafe Tables, Stage for Beauty Pageant, Dance Floor, Banquettes)
GI s may explode into the space USC through Boom #3 curtain carrying chairs, stools, cafe tables, etc. and set up the space.3:05-3:15 On cue the DREAMLAND sign/ light box lights up.

The Transaction (2:18) Dialogue and Kim and Chris dance (1:45 +/-)
As Kim and Chris dance DSC to the SAXOPHONE, Boom #1 closes behind (45sec).
Boom may need to close earlier to allow Kim and Chris time to undress and get in bed.

BOOM #1 w/ KIM #1
p 10-15. SR double doors open with KIM BEDROOM #1 backing. Bed rolls on from DSR. It has an opague mosquito net to conceal love scene.
Why God Why? (4:28)
Chris leaves the room and is on the Street outside Cubicle in front of Boom #1. He returns to the bedroom at 3:40 into the song.

Sun And Moon (2:40) (3:05)
During the second song, actors move out of the Bedroom perhaps on AND ME MEET IN THE SKY at 1:30. While in isolated spots, Bedroom KIM 1 is struck thru the opening in the boom as the double doors hinge shut. At End of number

BOOM #1 w/ TELEPHONE (SLC) and EMBASSY (SR) p. 16-18 midst chaos, desks with files being packed or burned, typewriters created, etc. Lights are up first on Telephone. 31 secs. into number, lights up on the Embassy giving time to bring on Embassy desk from DSR.

KIM #2 BAMBOO BED p. 19-22 Isolated in on center stage, KIM BEDROOM #2.
Bar-girls help Kim set up her room w/ shrine for parents and bamboo bed with white linen. Later group arrives with beer and food for a party, finally, Thuy arrives to reclaim Kim. Location includes a door.
The Ceremony (Dju Vui Vai) (3:06) Thuy enters. (1:57)
The Last Night Of The World After Thuy leaves, Boom #1 closes with Chris and Kim coming DSC Song 13 (4:22).

HO CHI MINH CITY - April 1978, Full stage. p25-28.

The Morning Of The Dragon (6:51) Dragon, flags, large NVA flag which drops to reveal Large HO. At 5:55 singing ends and dance continues to end of number (GUN DANCE?). Toward end of the number, BOOM #1 closes.

BOOM #1 p 29-36 KIM #3 SMALL ROOM IN VIETNAM
Home of a number of Vietnamese and KIM’S BEDROOM #3. Bed and Flat Screen #1 with a Door in Boom on SL side. Door is in the boom. Bed comes from DSL and plays in front of Boom. During first 2:00 of song, on SR, double doors slide open to reveal Chris's home in America. Actors are in bed and are pushed through double doors DS and then the backing closes.

IN AMERICA, CHRIS' HOME. (Night, Chris awakens from sleep and Ellen holds him in her arms on bed.) Plays p.29-30 then closes.

SMALL ROOM KIM #3 p.30-36

Back In Town ( 8:29) ) Engineer enters through Boom door into KIM'S BEDROOM #3. Chris and Ellen wagon is pulled back through the double boom door opening and the doors closes. Tam is revealed from behind the curtains at 7:00.
You Will Not Touch Him (3:31)

Kim shoots Thuy at 1:56 as the Boom open to the city with parades and pageant.

HO CHI MINH CITY p37- 38
Big Flag Dance. In You Will Not Touch Him at 2:00, MORNING OF THE DRAGON reprise, BACKSTAGE DREAMLAND furniture is set DSR in 1. At the end of the reprise, Engineer enters to DSC as booms begin to close and begins If You Want to Die in Bed:

Boom #3 is opened for Vietnamese fleeing as Boat People. MUNY extras march with goods through opening in the back of the set and down the ramp. Actors exit through Rosco fog on both sides which may be bathed in BLUE light or something as light fade.
As Boat People exit down the ramp,

Act II

Set up RP Screen and Video Equipment. Keep Boom 3 Split for Projector, if necessary. Set up Bangkok Street.

Entre Act (1:34) At approx. 1:20 open Boom 1 to spike to reveal RP screen.

BOOM #1 p 44-47 USA HOTEL CONFERENCE ROOM Atlanta, USA - September 1978
Lectern in front of Boom with MTI Film.

Bui-Doi (3:48) Film ends on p. 45. Close boom.
Action moves to backstage of Hotel area in front of Boom for Song 3 (2:58) Strike RP screen. Move center Bangkok unit into place. Close Boom 3. Strike RP Screen and Equipment.

BANGKOK STREET SCENE SET Patpong in Bangkok Bangkok - October 1978 p.48-51
A vendor-filled Street Outside a sleazy Bangkok block of night clubs, CS is one called "Le Moulin Rouge". Full stage of signage ala 42nd and Guys & Dolls. GIRLS, LEGS, MASSAGE, LEGS, ETC. Engineer and 4 other doormen barkers compete for tourists. Girls in Windows or Rolling Frames in front of the Bars with Japanese tourists taking pics.

What A Waste (7:18)

At 5:00, Scene moves inside club by having the Girl Display stages/wagons from Street Scene move to convert to

INSIDE LE MOULIN ROUGE. p.52-53
Dancers are go-go-ing on a tiny stage.

At 6:42 Boom closes as Kim leads John to a backstage small room where Tam is asleep on a crate bed which comes in from the DSL Wing.

CSR Boom Door opens. Rosco Fog streams out the door into which Thuy's ghost appears. KIM is on her Bed SL. Isolated in Spot.

The Guilt Inside Your Head (10:48)

At 2:13 Chris bursts into KIM #4 through the Boom door and grabs her. They run to crowd at Embassy.

FULL STAGE, ESCAPE. KIM'S NIGHTMARE. p58-62 Boom #1 opens to reveal two 14' chain link fences on casters. In front of Fences is a EMBASSY desk with Marines who Grip on and off Desk. KIM #4 remains onstage SL. KIM's BEDROOM #2. is on SR.

Add more fences throughout the scene as Kim and Chris struggle in the mob. Marines man rolling fences moving crowd around. General chao. The fences are being pushed further and further upstage as more and as peasants storm the gates.

AT 6:24 BOOM 3 Splits amidst General Chaos. They break open and run down the ramp into the back lot. Fog Upstage behind the SkyTrucks. Trees in Red Light. Design Office in Red Light with search lights flashing on the building. As

HELICOPTER p. 62 takes off from side of MUNY. Flies up with search lights blinding the audience. Buzzes overheard of audience and exits for the night. As all lights blue out on stage to give focus to the Helicopter, BOOM #1 closes.

AT 7:55 tempo changes.

At 8:22 She awakens from nightmare. Kim sings
