BOOM #1 Generic Drop w/ double door openings for wagon backings SR and SL
BOOM #2 Street Scene / Vietnam and Bangkok.
Skytrucks are on BLACK SIDE and arranged with a substantial opening USC to access the ramp. The stage is backed with scaffolding making up an Asian street scene. Initially, the buildings are decorated with American and South Vietnam Flags. Later these are taken off to reveal Vietcong flags. During intermission, these are removed to reveal Bangkok nightclub signs. The scaffold buildings can be split to form a street alley down the ramp to the back lot for the Boat People Exodus, end of Act I, and for the Helicopter Dream Act II.

BOOM #1 as Audience Enters Theatre
Helicopter Sound circles over and through the audience to the stage as Boom #1 opens to reveal

BOOM # 2 STREET SCENE Saigon - April 1975
Overture
Commerce ... vendors, extras, bikes cross stage. Engineer with Kim in street cloths among crowd. Goes IN through a door in the Street Scene maybe a generic Bar as Boom needs to serve both Saigon and Bangkok.

Boom opens to reveal stage with
BACKSTAGE DREAMLAND p 2,3 Couple of wagons with make-up tables, dressing room. Etc.
Intro # ...One of Us will be Miss Saigon
On “Voila! On stage all! Welcome to .... Dreamland” the backstage wagons transform, flip around, do something to become maybe the bar with booths and a Stage for the Beauty Pageant and Go Go dancing. As the wagons transform, the GI s explode into the space USC carrying chairs, stools, cafe tables, etc. and set up the space.

The Heat Is On In Saigon
As Kim and Chris dance DSC to the SAXOPHONE, Boom #1 closes behind.

BOOM #1 p 10-15. Tiny Cubicle w/ RUSTY Bed and Table. SR double doors open with KIM BEDROOM #1 backing and surrounds. Bed rolls on from DSR.
The Movie In My Mind
Chris leaves the room and is on the Street outside Cubicle in front of Boom #1
The Transaction
He returns to the bedroom.

BOOM #2 STREET WITH TELEPHONE (SRC) and EMBASSY (SL) p. 16-18 midst chaos, desks with files being packed or burned, typewriters created, etc.
The Telephone Song

KIM'S ROOM #2 BAMBOO BED p. 19-22 Isolated in on center stage, KIM BEDROOM #2.
Bar-girls help Kim set up her room w/ shrine for parents and bamboo bed with white linen. Later group arrives with beer and food for a party, finally, Thuy arrives to reclaim Kim. Location includes a door.
The Ceremony (Dju Vui Vai)
After Thuy leaves, Boom #1 closes with Chris and Kim coming DSC.

The Last Night Of The World

HO CHI MINH CITY - April 1978, Full stage. p25-28.
Streets of Saigon now HO CHI MINH CITY. Decorated for a Street Pageant to celebrate the glorious victory of North Vietnam and the reunification of the country before a giant statue of Ho Chi Min. Banners proclaim: THIRD ANNIVERSARY OF REUNIFICATION. All the MUNY extras with flags and banners. Scene includes Engineer being taken before an Assistant Commissar.
The Morning Of The Dragon

BOOM #1 p 29-36 SMALL ROOM IN VIETNAM
Home of a number of Vietnamese and KIM’S BEDROOM #3. Early morning light. Bed and Screen with a Door on SL side. maybe the door is in the boom.

IN AMERICA, CHRIS' HOME. (Night, Chris awakens from sleep and Ellen holds him in her arms on bed.) Comes through the SR double doors. Plays p.29-30 then closes.

Kim shoots Thuy as the Boom open to the city with parades and pageant.

HO CHI MINH CITY p37- 42
The Engineer goes to be place on-stage where he has hidden his money and treasures and coat. (I do not believe we need to have him go back inside the wretched DREAMLAND. Rather, it can be somewhere outside that he has hidden his goods.
Vietnamese fleeing as Boat People end of the Act. MUNY extras march with goods through opening in the back of the set and down the ramp as light fade.

As Boat People exit down the ramp, BOOM #1 closes for INTERMISSION

STREET SCENE SET Patpong in Bangkok Bangkok - October 1978 p.48-51
A vendor-filled Street Outside a sleazy Bangkok block of night clubs, CS is one called "Le Moulin Rouge". Full stage of signage ala 42nd and Guys & Dolls. GIRLS, LEGS, MASSAGE, LEGS, ETC. Engineer and 4 other doormen barkers compete for tourists. Girls in Windows or on DISPLAY STAGES in front of the Bars with Japanese tourists taking pics.
What A Waste

Scene moves inside club by having the Girl Display stages/wagons from Street Scene turn around to convert to

INSIDE LE MOULIN ROUGE. p.52-53
Dancers are go-go-ing on a tiny stage. Bar scene supplements with a wagon or two if necessary.

Later, Kim leads John to a backstage small room where Tam is asleep on a crate bed which comes in from the DSL Wing.

Owner enters through Boom doors and leads John out. Engineer enters to KIM’S BEDROOM #4 through door in Boom or from DSL wing.

Through Boom door Extreme SR, THUY’S GHOST appears.

BOOM #1 KIM'S NIGHTMARE p.57.
Thuy's ghost appears CSR as KIM is on her Bed SL. Isolated.
The Guilt Inside Your Head

Chris bursts into KIM’S ROOM through the Boom door and grabs her. Boom #1 opens to reveal 2 chain link 5’ fences on casters. In front of Fences is a EMBASSY desk with Marines who Grip on and off Desk.

EMBASSY #2 The Fall Of Saigon, April 1975 p59 - 62 Add more fences throughout the scene as Kim and Chris struggle in the mob. Marines man rolling fences moving crowd around. General chao. The fences are being pushed further and further upstage as more and as peasants storm the gates. They break open and run down the ramp into the back lot. The City Scaffolding has formed a street opening USC for the escape.
HELICOPTER p. 62 takes off from front of MUNY or from lower lot. Flies up with search lights blinding the audience. Buzzes overheard of audience and exits for the night. As all lights blue out on stage to give focus to the Helicopter, BOOM #1 closes behind

Asian Call Girls in white lingerie. Asian Beauty Queen parade with float / s. One with a Statue of Liberty. Fantasy Set. Dream fades in and out.
