Design is a creative process requiring step-by-step discoveries to arrive at finished solutions.  Outcomes vary, of course, depending on the requirements of the design project.  Whether asked to create a set design, a costume design, lighting design, window display, museum installation, product ad, or poster, the designer will still undergo similar step-by-step procedures:  defining the problem, research, incubation and gestation, preliminary sketches and rough ideas, revisions, plans, verification, revisions, execution.

For our first project, you will design a poster to promote one of our main stage productions: Romeo & Juliet, The Laramie Project or Madwoman of Chaillot.  The finished design will be a glossy 11x17 poster and a 300 dpi Photoshop file.  To achieve the final result, you will both undergo the steps involved in the creation of a design and hone your skills with Adobe Photoshop.
