Set 7 of My All Time Favorite Snow Photographs --- The 2015 Hard Winter in New England
Bob Jensen at Trinity University

This has been a hard winter in the White Mountains.
This winter up here thus far, unlike Boston, is not rough in terms of snow depth
This winter up here thus far is not rough in terms of deep cold --- only one night hit -25F

But it's a hard winter in terms of sustained cold with highs below zero for days on end
We now spell relief as having a day that goes up to +10F (not enough for thawing)
It's so cold the car wash businesses are closed for weeks on end
Hence our cars and trucks are encased in salty film
Salt mixed with sand splashes up from roadways even when the temperatures are below zero

In my yard the snow is 2-4 feet deep with some drifts going a bit higher
This snow depth is actually less than some of the previous winters over our ten years living here
But the snow was a pain this year in that it dribbled in on repeated days of 2-5 inches
Forcing me to clear the drive and walkways repeatedly over and over and over

The bright light is camera flash reflection on the glass

To the south and east of these White Mountains in 2015 the snow depth is a huge problem
Especially in coastal regions like Boston having 6-8 feet with stranded trains and buses
The snow is so deep there's nothing to do with it except melt it in melting machines costing $1,000 per hour
And all around roofs are caving in or otherwise leading with no hope of getting a roofing company to fix it

Leaving snow on top of your car that can blow off and blind drivers behind you is against the law

Oops --- Hope there's a seat heater and a floor drain

Meanwhile back up here in the White Mountains this is our road leading to the Sunset Hill House Hotel
That has been sold and renamed the Inn on Sunset Hill

I took this Mt. Washington picture from our driveway before we had much snow down here
