Large, memorable events define how we remember an era.

While some events might only capture our imagination, others can truly show us how history changed around us.

In the eighties the world changed around us, even as the cold war thawed and the Berlin Wall came down in Europe,

other fears came to the fore. It was in the eighties that AIDS first reared its head

and that we became increasingly aware of both environmental damage,

and danger in our stores.

and the stock market crashed.

We were fascinated over the royal wedding
