Music of the eighties
The music of the eighties pretty much ranged from
the tasteless to the tasteless. Musical artists found that to successful,
the more spectacle they generated, the better. Madonna is a perfect
example.
But remember, she came from a cadre of equally obnoxious
examples.

To be fair, one must remember that no all of the
music was this annoying, some was wholesome and pure
Debbie Gibson
Tiffany
and some were not.
Being male, I never really understood the Debbie
Gibson/Tiffany allure. That's a teddy bear on her album cover, for
cryin' out loud! How could any self-respecting 11-year-old
boy have not wanted to burn it? At least bands like Poison or Cinderella
had neat graphics. Music that made your eardrums bleed, but neat
graphics. One man also felt that the eighties music scene was ridiculous.
And Weird Al was his name.
Weird Al's primary target early in his career was
the great gloved one, Michael Jackson.
I must make it clear that the music of the eighties
was not bad. I like it, nearly everyone I talk to likes it, the presentation
was just tacky. Who can say Prince has no talent? If you do
say that, email Laura Panella
so she can kill you.
I remember liking Hall and Oates, I think because
I thought that it made me seem older and more mature. Now I can't
even remember any of their songs.
My favorite eighties band is certainly the Talking
Heads. They didn't epitomize the decade or anything, but folks
liked them and it's my web site.
